Diatomaceous earth can be used as an abrasive for cleaning and polishing. The silica which makes up DE is an extremely porous and fine powder, yet very hard. This makes it ideal for integrating into your cleaning, whether you are scrubbing the tub, floor, or countertops.
Follow the steps below to learn how to make a DE enhanced all-purpose cleaner.
Step 1:
Add some DE to a large bucket or a spray bottle using a funnel.
Step 2:
Add 5-6 times as much water to the bucket or spray bottle.
Step 3:
Add vinegar or lemon juice to add acidity to help clean tougher discolorations. Add dish soap for a more forgiving scrub.
Step 4:
Using a cloth, sponge, or paper towels, apply the mixture to the surface being cleaned and scrub.
Step 5:
Dry immediately after cleaning.
