The smells that come from the litter box are not the nicest of scents to have to waft around the house. Luckily, you can also get rid of the kitty litter smell by adding diatomaceous earth to the litter box. DE will absorb moisture in the box and eliminate the smell; it will also repel any worms, larvae, or parasites in the litter box.
Follow these instructions to help eliminate kitty litter odors:
Step 1:
After cleaning out a litter box, add some new kitty litter.
Step 2:
For every pound of kitty litter added, add ¾ Cup of DE. Using the scoop, evenly distribute the diatomaceous earth throughout the kitty litter.
Step 3:
Repeat the process whenever you add any new kitty litter.
